Kindness is our Superpower!!!

We had a really special morning talking with the children about kindness and how we can spread kindness to ourselves, each other, our families, and our community!

To help visualize how kindness and love can spread we gave each child a ball of playdough and asked them to hold the playdough to their heart. We then used our kindness superpowers to give our little white ball of playdough so much love and kind thoughts such as:

SB: "Giving a hug!"
JeS: "Giving hugs."
LaS: "When my sister gives me a hug!"
TS: "Giving a hug."
LuS: "Taking care!"
HL: "Giving a hug, taking care, and being happy!"
DZ: "Be happy and loved."
CG: "Taking care of all."
CL: "Giving a hug."
EM: "Giving kisses to my mommy and daddy!"
HA: "Thinking about Elsa. It makes me happy!"
EPA: "Giving kisses to mom and dad."
JaS: "Giving hugs."
AH: "My sister giving me a hug."
LB: "Kisses for my mommy!"
FJ: "Giving love to all of the city!"
MW: "Giving daddy hugs!"
PK: "Kisses for my family!"
WN: "Giving hugs and kisses and helping someone who's hurt by asking them, are you okay?"

Then something magical happened once we finished our kind thoughts and started to squeeze and move the playdough around in our hands....

Suddenly, some friends realized that their beautiful thoughts had transferred to their playdough! Their white playdough began to change colors.

The children watched with excitement as their once plain ball became bright and full of color. We talked about how kind words, caring actions, and love can spread the same way. When we share kindness with someone, it doesn’t stay in just one place—it grows and reaches others too.

By the end, each child had a unique, colorful ball of playdough that reminded us how powerful our kindness can be. Even the smallest act of kindness can grow into something beautiful when we share it with the people around us.

The video below shows some of our excitement as we discovered the magic happening right in our hands.

To add to the idea of spreading kindness, we are on a mission to catch kindness in action! We have a big heart in our classroom that needs to be filled up and the only way it's going to get filled is if we are kind to one another! Ms. Beth, Ms. Caroline, and Ms. Jessica are on the lookout for children in the Willow Room being kind. When someone gets caught being kind they get to add a little heart or circle to our big heart! We can't wait to see how quickly we can fill up our heart! We already have quite a few hearts added and we know there are going to be so many more!!!

The children worked on cutting out more hearts because,
"We need so many hearts for all of our love!"

Lastly, we added words of kindness to the large mural that we have been working on. We will be putting this in the hallway soon...
