Happy Monday, Willow families! We started our morning by revisiting Paul Klee's quote:
"A line is a dot that went for a walk."
We took a moment to watch a short informational video about his life and his artwork (https://youtu.be/_L7uYFuMWLY?si=G_BCW5Xr0o4HFQRU). In this video, the narrator describes how Klee created different types of lines without lifting the art material he was using off the canvas. She also described how he added colors to his line work. With this inspiration in mind, we got to work! The Willows' started their artwork by taking a black dot for "a walk" and then once they were done, they added color into the white spaces. They took their time slowly and intentionally gliding their pen across the paper, creating such wonderful lines artwork!
LB: "I'm going to add orange and green. My dot went on a walk to Grandma's!"
LauS: "My dot went on a squiggle walk. It went right back to where it started. I added lots of green!"
EPA: "Mine is going everywhere in the city! New York City!"
PK: "My dot went to the grocery store and then it went to the beach!"
LuS: "My dot went wherever he wanted to and he stopped right here!"
EM: "Look at my dot going for a walk! It's going to fish! I'm doing some thick lines. My dot jumped!"
DZ: "Up and down."
We also explored other ways to create with lines! We placed little line magnets together on magnetic surfaces, painted lines in some sand, connected big lines builders, and decorated different lines with loose parts. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning together.
