Today we continued exploring the ideas of color and light, inspired by the stained glass windows we visited last week. We offered the children several provocations to think about this artistic view in new ways.
At the light table, they placed tangrams inside picture frames, working to create their own “stained glass windows.” With magnatiles, lights, and little people, the children experimented with how light shines through the colors, one child excitedly observed, “Ohh the light gets so pretty and bright! The light turns red like the magnatile.”
We also explored with playdough, mirrors, colorful loose parts, and a kaleidoscope projection, noticing how each material shifted and reflected the light in different ways. In the block space, children built tall structures and experimented with what happened when they added loose parts to their buildings. And of course, our kitchen space was open for imaginative play and connection.
It was a joyful day of discovery, full of color, light, and creativity!
