If you've ever peeked into Willow Room and noticed your child working with the same materials or activity more than once, you might have wondered: Why are they doing that again? In a Reggio-inspired, play-based preschool like ours, we call these learning invitations provocations—and revisiting them is a big part of how young children grow, learn, and thrive.
Going back to the same provocation isn't repetition for the sake of it, it's a powerful tool for deep, meaningful learning. In a world that often moves fast, revisiting provocations helps children slow down and go deeper. It lets them explore, create, and think critically, skills that will serve them well beyond the preschool years.
