Happy Monday, Willow families! This morning, we introduced lots of new concepts. First, we talked about "mandalas" and how they are like patterns such as, "Blue, red, blue, red..." or "square, circle, square, circle..." We invited the Willows to decorate their own mandalas using frames and empty embroidery hoops. Check out these beautiful works of art!
DS spent a lot of time with her mandala making. She carefully placed each loose part inside the frame with lots of care.
LS also spent quite some time with hers as well. She stated,"This is how I make my pattern. I'm adding pink and blue. Is it looking beautiful?"
LG: "Look, Ms. Caroline!"
Some more gorgeous mandala designs...
Second, we worked on drawing our new self portraits! We used skin color paper and skin, hair, and eye color markers to inspire us. We placed a big mirror in front of our beautiful faces to ensure we were choosing the correct colors for our features.
Not everyone created a self portrait today, but don't worry, more to come tomorrow!
Third, we took all of the blocks out of 3 spots in our block area shelf and invited the Willows to build inside and tell stories.
AH: "This is my animal home. They have a bathtub. I have a deer!"
LS: "I made an animal home shelter. There are little animals in there because a tornado is coming. The bricks are super strong. The lights help the people that are scared in the dark."
ES: "This is a home for the hedgehog!"
More exciting happenings...
Be Happy, Be Kind
