We found a new friend at the forest!

What a day we had at the forest!
The kids were so excited to head out for this mornings adventures and today's adventures did not disappoint!
Even before getting to the forest we found some treasures!
P found a bug and
L found a beautiful little flower!

Immediately D and M found a very interesting caterpillar climbing on a limb.
At first the boys just watched it climb and then they started calling others to check it out!
We wondered:
What kind of caterpillar is it?
Will it be a butterfly or a moth?
What does it eat?
Maybe it needs some water? Does it drink?
Does it like me?
Where is it climbing to?
Will it make a cocoon soon?

F said, "it's so fluffy!"
More friends joined and we noticed that it had red on it's head. One friend said, "oh maybe it poisonous! Don't touch it!"
Another friend asked the teacher to look up what kind of caterpillar it was.
I asked, "what would you call it?"
Here's some names that they came up with:
White caterpillar
Fluffy butterfly
Pokey butterfly
White fluffy butterfly
Lovely
My new friend

The actual caterpillar name is:
White-Marked Tussock Moth

In video below you can see a really amazing conversation between friends about their little caterpillar friend:

We had lots of fun in the forest running, picking leaves and berries, and noticing all of the beautiful parts of nature in our forest!

These friends made a campfire together!

"These are leaves for my mommy, my daddy, and my brother."
SO much running!!!
