We have a new space in our classroom!
As we have noticed that the children's "motors" are running high (which happens every winter) we thought we would come up with a space to help us regulate those high energy moments! With the help of our Occupational Therapist, Ms. Julie, we created "The Motor Room" (the kids named the space last week)!
GP worked on writing the name of the space down for us. In the picture below you can see the space and how the children will access it!
HR gives us a demonstration on how we will use The Motor Room...
We look at where we would like our energy to be. For example: My spidey senses are ready to learn
We look at where our energy is. For example: Hulk smashed and full of energy
And then we pick some exercises that will help us get our energy level where we want it to be...
We can do:
Spiderweb stretches
Ironman pulls
Spidey web swings
Spiderman kicks
The flash run
Hulk smash push ups
Captain America jumps
Hulk smash slams
Bat mobile rides
Once we are done with our movements we check back in to see if our energy levels have changed and if we are at Spidey Sense and ready to learn then we can go back to work!
Thanks HR for showing us how our new space works! Check him out, his spidey senses are ready to learn!!!
Some other friends wanted to try out the space today, too. We will have all of the children take some time learning how to use The Motor Room throughout the week and this will be available to them whenever they feel that they may need it.
When we pick a movement to do we roll the dice to see how many times we will do it!
It's a great way to practice counting and adding!
One friend can access The Motor Room at a time and while we are doing the exercises we stay inside the box to make sure we are safe with these materials!
We can't wait to see how this space will help us throughout the day!
Be Happy, Be Kind
