We have noticed some friends talking about different shapes so this morning we read the book Some of These are Snails by Carter Higgins. This book talks about shapes, colors, and how objects are different sizes! After reading the story and talking about all of the different shapes we went on a shape hunt in our neighborhood! It was amazing to see how so many things are made out of basic shapes!
Right outside of our classroom we found a hexagon, rectangles, circles, squares, and triangles!
"Fences are made of diamonds."
"The wheels on cars are circles!"
"There's a rectangle on the sign."
"The stop sign is an octagon!"
This manhole had a big circle with lots of diamonds and a rectangle inside of it!
We couldn't pass up a class picture with all of the hearts at Bristol!
Rectangles, squares, and diamonds were seen here!
And Webster has soo many hearts! We love to see hearts all around us!!!
"It's a circle, I found a circle!"
"It's a big rectangle with a little rectangle inside of it."
Circles on the bike, circles on the ground!
We noticed shapes in nature.
"These leaves are oval."
"The clover leaves are round like a circle."
And then we happened upon the neighbors chickens!
The children were so excited to meet them, we hope to go see them again soon!
