Our restaurant gained a new machine this morning!
We have a new dehydrator to begin making our own dehydrated food with. We will use this food to "serve" in our restaurant.
Today we learned that heat takes the moisture out of food and that fruit is a great food group to start learning about dehydrating foods. As we discussed what fruits we should start with we decided that we are going to try to dehydrate strawberries, apples, and oranges first! We'll see what comes next...
As added excitement the children decided that they wanted to create something with the box that the dehydrator came in. We talked about making it an oven, a microwave, or a refrigerator. As the discussion continued we decided on making it a microwave!
"Let's make it microwave, we can heat the food up in it."
"We have to put the numbers on it. It goes beep beep beep."
"We need a start button and a stop button."
"Let's decorate it!"
"I'm making some numbers."
"I have all the numbers and a start button. How do you spell GO?"
In the video below BP shares what he has done!
The dehydrator came protected in this soft square. The children decided it's an oven!
"Let's put things in the oven."
"I'm going to heat my food in the microwave."
We were also given a set of dishes for our restaurant space!
Today, the children took some time washing all of the plates, bowls, and cups!
This friend was very excited about her creation and asked that I share it on the blog!
Isn't it beautiful?!
