A Quick Moment

Sometimes the smallest of moments are the most meaningful.

This afternoon after lunch we headed to the playscape to get a little energy out before rest. A small group of children happened upon a grasshopper. This grasshopper was perched upon a leaf which was very enticing to our friends. The children wanted to grab the bug catcher to try to catch it to try to investigate it further. They grabbed the bug catcher and headed back outside!

Low and behold they were able to catch the grasshopper! The grasshopper jumped around inside of the bug catcher telling us that he didn't want to be in there so the kids let him back out and placed him on another leaf. One friend decided to try to touch our new friend, which he was able to do. Not only did he touch it he was able to get it to hang out on his hand with him! It was beautiful to see how kind and gentle the children were with our new insect friend.

Other children came to meet the grasshopper too and for a moment it let us hold onto it but eventually it hopped away to the children's delight! Just this little moment in time was so special that we had to share it with you!

We also continued our work with our rock painting in the classroom. It looks like the acrylic paint is holding on pretty well so now we have some much more, as the children say, "yellowy" rocks! We also continued working with play dough creations, we did some building and worked on making a castle, we explored filling buckets and large containers too! It was a great day in the Willow Room!

Be Happy, Be Kind
