We were busy this morning and as you can see from the title of the blog we made a lot of "creations"!
When the children got to school they were excited to try out a new materials. This is called Sand Slime. It is very soft and moves very slowly. As I watched the children work with this material it was interesting to see how they interacted with it! They moved very deliberately, some put the sand all over their arms, one child put it on his face! Some children held it as high in the air as they could to see what would happen as it flowed back down to the tray. The most interesting thing that I noticed was that it was very quiet in this space. The children were so enthralled with their work and it was so calming that it made everything feel peaceful.
We are very intrigued by these tiny plus plus blocks. The children are doing a great job using all of the muscles in their hands and fingers to put these tiny pieces together. Our favorite way to build with them is to make cubes!
We put these beautiful glass houses on our light table to encourage some discussion about families and our homes. The children used loose materials to design their spaces. We noticed today that the children also love to fill the house and then dump them back out. We may explore that further!

We had a friend ask as if we could play with legos so, of course, we brought them out to have a little creative building!
We explored with numbered tree cookie pieces and loose materials. Some children worked on numbers while others chose to build and create!

We invited the children to engage in light and shadow dancing.
We showed them ballet dancers on the iPad and then invited them to try to dance in the spotlight! The video's below show some friends trying out their own dance moves.
We had a fabulous day!
