Over the last couple of weeks we have noticed that the children love using our hole punchers. We talked about different ways that we could use the hole punchers and how to make them meaningful for the children. As the children continued to collect leaves on the playscape on Monday it dawned on us that they might like to use the leaves to make natural hole punches! We took out our leaf collection, the hole punchers, and trays to collect our work in!
At first the children had some trouble figuring out how to get the leaves inside of the hole punchers. This was a great learning experience for them. They had to be patient and persistent in their work. They tried and tried and when they got it, they were soo excited!
"I made hearts!"
"I made a butterfly!"
"Look, I got it!"
"I'm gonna make a butterfly so it can be a leaf fly!"
Once we've made enough nature confetti we are going to ask the children what they would like to do with them! We may add them to our nature collage or spread a little love around our neighborhood! We'll let you know!
Inside we had some friends working hard on structures in the block area. We have noticed that the children have been trying to make buildings that are taller than themselves. They also have been creating ramps for balls and cars. It was wonderful to watch their work transform this morning.
We had our structures knocked over a couple of times, which could be frustrating or exciting. We decided to make it exciting because then that meant we got to make a new building!
"I'm putting all of the people (our self portrait blocks) in the building. It's a place for all of them to live."
In the video above our friend created a ramp and a fun way to use it!
We enjoyed time with the babies and pretending to be a family too.
We loved seeing our boys join in the fun!
