Today was the first time in weeks since we've been able to go back to the forest and it did not disappoint. Before we left, we stopped down by the garden to talk about the work that had been done and how important it was for us to stay off the garden beds. We also took the opportunity to take a couple of photos on our new butterfly bench. Now it was time for us to head to the forest and let me tell you what a wonderful time the children had! The weather was great, not too cold but indeed a little chilly. However, that didn't stop the fun, not at all. It was definitely worth the wait and as you will see from the photos, the children enjoyed exploring in every way possible that they could making up games, playing in the cave, noticing changes in the forest and much more.
The excitement begins!
"I'm going in the cave!"
"Look at the rock I found!"
FD - Wow! Look at all these rocks.
ZW - This is weird! It doesn't draw but it spreads like powder.
ZG - We're getting all the fairy crystals.
JD - What happened to all of us this? All of this has been cut down and now you can go through there, here and here. At least they didn't cut down this tree where we always climb.
AG and JD - We're going through the jungle! Let's hide from the girls!
The children loved exploring in the cave! This was one of the places they explored most.
AC and JD enjoyed running down the big hill!
WK - Look at our bow and arrows!
ZW - This is our hideout.
ZG - Hey guys! I found a door that leads us to the hideout.
WM - Hey WK, let's go watch a movie in the jungle.
WK - No, it's in the dam WM.
WM - Yeah, let's go watch it in the dam. The dam is in the jungle.
ZG - We're watching Jungle Book Snake!
FD - Hey guys! This is our house. We can use this for the mailbox.
They continued exploring, climbing and enjoying the forest!
Our time has come to an end at the forest and what a great way to end it by everyone getting together running up the hill and then the countdown begins...5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Go!!! And, down the hill they go!!!
As we were walking back to school I noticed what I thought was an owl perched high up in the tree on a branch. Well, as it turns out...it was actually a Hawk! The children had seen one earlier in the sound garden on the playscape and thought it might be the same one.
