So Much Excitement!

Today came with lots and lots of excitement! We started the morning off with a check in on our caterpillars and just as we had predicted all six caterpillars were in their chrysalises! We spent some time looking at them, making observations, and then we move them to the big butterfly net!

"There's lots of bumps on the chrysalises. I think that's part of the butterfly."
"Maybe they will have bumps on them when they come out?"
"They look dark in there."
"I made the chrysalis with the wing coming out, that's what's going to happen soon!"
"I think I see their legs. Maybe that's what the bumps are?"
"I think they are changing in there."
"Do you think that's what is causing them to have bumps?"
"Maybe. Maybe they already had them."
We took the lid off of our container, very gently, and then had to carefully brush the little bit of webbing away from the caterpillars before putting them into the net.

We can't wait to see what happens! Hopefully within the next couple of weeks we will have some beautiful butterflies in the classroom!

Once our caterpillar exploration was finished we headed out for a walk. On our walk we saw one of our favorite animal friends! Bell and her mom were out for a walk too!
As we got our final pets in with Bell we heard some interesting sounds.
What could they be?
They were the neighbors chickens! We loved getting a chance to check out the chickens in their coup!

While checking out the chickens we also noticed some really big trucks working on the street. Of course, we had to take some time to watch the trucks work!

We found "helicopter's" that fell from a maple tree and enjoyed throwing them in their air!
The video below is a slo-mo video of the children throwing their helicopters in the air! They were really excited to make this video!

The kids were really interested in these flower buds, too. We wondered what they might become. We might have to go back next week and see if they have become flowers yet!
Today was a beautiful day with beautiful friends! What a fantastic way to end our week!!!
