What a beautiful day it has been!!! We took advantage of the warm, sunny weather and took a walk around the neighborhood. It wasn't just any kind of walk, we had a purpose for our walk today and we totally enjoyed every bit of the beautiful sunshine. We were on a mission to look for things that we don't always notice or see when we are out and about. Check out the things we saw and did on our walk today...
JD - It's so warm out here! It feels really good!
FD - We see our shadows.
We couldn't resist stomping in the huge snow pile near the crosswalk.
WK - There's moss in here!
ZG - Moss is green and fuzzy.
JD - We see something! It's a cave for bugs!
FD - It could be a bug house!
JD - No! It's a bug cave!
FD - I found a red "X"
ZG - I found another "X"
This one isn't red like the other one.
ZG and ZW join FD as she pretends to do the splits over a patch of snow.
JD excitedly shouted "I saw birds go in there!"
FD - I see the number 2 on that sign.
Teacher - What do you think it means?
FD - two parking cars.
Touchy! Touchy! Touchy! It's fun to touch the snow!
I see a yellow sign! It means to walk with your parents!
ZG and ZW found another "X"
ZG - And, it's a orange "X"
ZW - X marks the spot!
Of the few times that we have walked past this sculpture, it was the first time that one of the friends had really noticed it. JD looked around and said: "look at that fish over there. Can we go over there? And of course, they couldn't resist having their photo taken.
Awww! Another snow pile! WM - Oh yeah! Let's jump on it!
"Can I push the button please?"
We got a little distracted on our walk when we saw the firetruck and made a detour in hopes that we might see some firemen but it was not meant to be. However, we enjoyed getting our picture taken in front of this big red machine!
After stopping to check out the firetruck we turned around and headed back towards Lockwood. We took a short cross in front of City Hall but not before these two friends noticed another sign.
JD and FD - We see some more signs!
FD sounded out and read the word "university."
JD - I found the letter "A" and it's made with sticks.
They really enjoyed touching the snow in the fountain, running through and playing in the patches of snow on the ground and, of course playing in the big beautiful tree.
FD - Hey! There's a sewer down here and it there's water in it.
I love this painted tree.
As we continued on our walk back to school friends couldn't help but notice other things found in nature...
JD noticed this bird nest high up in a tree.
WM and his friends found some gumballs.
JD - Those are nature gumballs.
AC - There's a bunny right there.
As we waited at the light, JD pushed the button for us to cross. We turned our walking into a game of beat the timer once we got close enough to school but we couldn't run, only walk as fast as our feet could carry us. We finally made it back to school!!! We beat the timer with a minute and a half left on it. It was a great day as one of the friends said!!! And, indeed it was!
