Here's our final room design. If you notice there is a huge blue mat on one side of our room. This is our crash pad and next to it is our quiet area. This space has been designed with big emotions in mind! Whenever our children have some big emotions, whether it be happy, sad, mad, or silly, we want to make sure that they have a space to appropriately express those feelings without disrupting others while they are working. The crash pad's purpose is to get out some big enery and the quiet area will be a space where a child can work to settle themselves down with support from materials purposefully placed in there (books and visuals). The quiet area also has a spot for our peace table. Last year the children created a peace table to use when they needed to work out or solve a problem. Our friends from last year asked that we add it to the space in order to help them as they navigate through different happenings in the classrom! We'll keep you updated on how everything goes, we are excited to see how this change of space helps keep our classroom amazing!
We were very creative in Willow Room this morning. I had placed paper and markers on the table but very quickly I was told that the kids needed more materials! They wanted markers, tape, scissors, and glue! And boy am I glad that we added those materials because the creations that ensued were fantastic! The children were excited to share their work with each other and plan to continue working on it tomorrow. Check it out!
FD made her house and a little version of herself!
ZW also made a little version of herself and then went to work on making a house for her person to live in! She said she made her house and she made it 3D!
WK made a person inside of a folded piece of paper. He said, "he can hide from you and then pop out!"
AC made Pokemon and was excited to create a story that goes along with each of his pictures!
ZG drew her cat and put him inside of a cat house! She also created a couple of cats out of paper pieces that she cut out I just forgot to take a picture...
JD made a tent! He later went back and added people to go inside of his tent!
We had some dirty materials so the kids went to work cleaning all of our plates, pots, pans, and sensory materials! Soapy fun was the best!
Later in the morning we headed outside to enjoy the sunshine (we have missed the sun)!
Even with all of the sunshine we still found some ice and we were excited to break apart as much as ice as possible!
We used rocks, sticks, our feet, our hands, and our fingers to try to break up the ice!
These two created a very intricate small world using rocks, sticks, and leaves.
And you can't beat a picture of a bunch of adorable kids in a cave! We enjoyed our day and hope you did too!
