Earlier this week the children had a conversation with Ms. Beth around the events that transpired last week during their morning meeting and read the book "I Am America." Today we talked a little more about problem solving, treating one another with kindness and respect, and talking with each other about our feelings. We read the story "Black is a Rainbow Color" in which a child reflects on the meaning of being black. While reading this story FD interrupted and said "Ms. Stephanie, you, AC and JD are black and we all love you. JD said, "my skin is light brown like AC's and your skin is dark brown Ms. Stephanie. When we finished the story the children talked about how much they loved the beautiful illustrations and shared what they liked most about the story. One of our friends said they liked the Black Lives Matter sign in the book because when white people care about black people it makes them feel better and another friend said they liked the sign too. Another friend said they liked that the story was about a black girl and black people. Some friends liked the rainbow tree because of the colors and patterns and they liked the black hole in the tree surrounded by purple. It is truly wonderful to see how resilient our children are and how much they know and take in on a daily basis. Words speak volumes and we, as adults can learn so much from our young children!
Our morning was busy and went by quickly. We talked about finding the treasure that one of the classrooms had hidden in the forest and were excited to go find it. We made it to the forest and were thrilled to see some workers there cutting down a tree.
FD said: "Come on everyone! Let's go find the treasure!"
We found the treasure where "x" marked the spot. It was too easy said one of the friends.
A couple of friends found letters formed in nature. WK found the letter P.
FD and WM found the letter A.

JG had an idea to build a house in this area and some of his friends helped out.
JD and WK found big branches to add to the house and they invited all the friends to come on in. They spent the majority of their time playing in their pretend gym and living room. Check it out below:
It started to rain a bit, just a little sprinkling and WK dug into a hole in the tree and began twisting to stop the rain but it didn't work.
He found another tree and did the same there. The rain stopped and he said "I told you it would work."
One thing that the children love is to jump, jump and jump! Look at how high they can jump? They also found a big limb to hang on for just a moment. Check them out!
Lastly, we just couldn't leave without loving on this huge tree! We gave it a big, big hug!
