We took a little break from experimenting this morning and headed out to zone 9 at the front of the school to check out the fairy garden that Magnolia made. Some of our friends were very excited to explore with all of the little pieces! Check it out!
WM said, "JD let's build together, we can make a house for the people."
"There's a ladder for the people to climb to the roof!"
JD said, "I want to put a hat on the person."
JD tried and tried to get an acorn top to stay on top of the wooden peg head and it kept falling off. He sat back for a minute and contemplated his next move. He went back to the container of acorn tops, sorted through them and then picked the one that he thought would fit better. He said, "it has to be a little bigger."
JD got the acorn top to stay on his peg! He was so excited, he ran around yelling "it's on, it's on!". It was so wonderful to his hard work pay off!
At the same time WM found some little colorful pegs that he liked. He said, "my person is eating ice cream."
As WK continued exploring he found a butterfly! This butterfly became very exciting for WK and other friends. At first he decided to put the butterfly into the little house in the fairy garden. He said, "he has a home in here."
Then JD found another butterfly and the two boys played with their butterflies together. They decided that their butterflies needed to eat so off they went to look for butterfly food!
They found a third butterfly and this butterfly got a home inside of this tube. They had to feed the butterfly and then found him a new home inside of a nook in the tree.
JD said, "this side is his bed, I put a door on it but it's too dark in there so I'm going to take it off. On the other side is where he eats his dinner."
AC exclaimed, "we made the butterfly a nest!"
Some friends continued working on potions this morning as well. WK asked JD to come play with him so they could continue their potion work from the last time that we were in this space. They decided that they needed dirt, leaves, and berries to make their potion!
The girls hunted for berries while doing some story telling.
JD found a very special stick this morning that he decided was a hammer. He banged on everything he could find. He banged on the big log and said, "I'm breaking it up with my hammer."
As JD was banging on the tree he noticed a tiny hole in the side.
JD called a friend over to see the hole that he found. He said, "WK look, there's a hole!" WK said, "it's all dried out, that's a good thing." JD replied, "I'm going to fill it, I have a hammer." He then went to work trying to fill the hole with another piece of wood that he found and his stick hammer! He wasn't able to fill the hole but he said that was ok lol!
