What a day!

Happy Tuesday Willow Families!

Today was a busy and fun day for us. I could feel the excitement from our Willow friends as we began our second day together. I watched as the children have started to form new friendships and bonds and as they have begun to share little pieces of themselves with me and with each other.

We headed out to our outdoor "zone" for the morning hoping to beat the rain! Luckily we were able to explore and enjoy the outdoors for about an hour before the rain came pouring down.

This tree became quite an exploration and imagination space! Most of the class ran to it immediately and began to climb on it. Some friends pretended that it was a spaceship while others pretended it was a train. Some friends were excited to balance and walk along the top of it and were amazed that they were able to make it from one side to the other! Some friends explored it from the ground, still a little unsure of being up that high and some friends found nooks and crannies to dig into to see what they could discover within the tree! This tree became a big part of our morning explorations!

These two friends spent time digging into this crevice wondering what might be inside! WK thought that he was going to find some "tree pieces", while AC hoped that they might find some bugs!
We enjoyed some time drawing. The kids thought it was funny how the raindrops affected their paper!

We explored with builders and loose parts while in our zone as well! Luckily we have a wagon to bring all of our amazing materials outside with us! JG worked really hard to balance the pieces of wood that he was playing with!

FD made up a beautifully silly song about the rain! Check it out!

Unfortunately we got poured down on in the middle of our outdoor time this morning but we made the best of it! Many friends still wanted to draw so we got out the markers and paper in the classroom. We have some very creative children in our class!
WM said, "my favorite color is orange so my picture is going to be orange!"

ZG and FD were very proud of their beautiful drawings!

JD said, "I like the light with the blocks, you can see through them!"

Play dough was a big hit this morning as well! We will be letting the children use sensory materials, such as playdough, but they will only be able to use the materials that are assigned to them. Today they had a chance to pick a container of playdough and that became their playdough. They don't share these materials because we are unable to clean them and keep them sanitized. They did such an amazing job holding onto their own playdough, I was very impressed! Check out their creations!
ZW and JG made different kinds of lines! You could tell that they were really concentrating and enjoyed the work that they were doing because they did it for a long time!
ZG was excited to make a circle using the lid from her playdough container!
AC shows off his awesome creation!
JD made a circle and WM made a cylinder!
We had fun trying out the geoboards too!

Today was a great day, tomorrow will be even better!!!
