Our New Class Motto

We have finished our Be Happy, Be Happy, Be Kind, Be Kind signs and it has become our new class motto! We will hang these in our classroom as a reminder of the joy that we can to bring to each day!

We began working on our self portraits this morning. During our morning meeting we continued to read the book The Best Part of Me and then we talked about the different parts of our bodies and faces. We talked about how we are alike and how we are different. We discussed how important differences are and that we need to see the beauty that lies in all of us. One friend said, "we can't all look alike, that would be silly!" We brought out multi cultural markers and the children had a chance to look through the different colors. It was interesting to watch them look for a color that came close to their own skin color. One child held up a marker to her friends arm and said, "look I think I found a color like you!" Then a few friends went to work on their portraits. All the portraits will look different, as we are all at different stages of development but as I listen to each child talk about what they are drawing it is evident that they are thinking more about themselves and hopefully gaining a positive sense of self!

We also had the exciting opportunity to try out the new swing in our zone! They called it a spider swing!

As always we love the regular swing too! This gave us a lot of entertainment today!

We brought out the bubble machine and played Kidz Bop music on our speaker. The kids danced and tried to pop all of the bubbles that they could!

Sidewalk chalk was a big hit! We had all different kinds of drawing happening!

And storytelling with the fairy garden has been a big part of day as well. I have brought this out with us everywhere we go and there are always friends that want to play with it! We may have some wonderful storytellers on our hands. We'll have to wait and see!!!
