As we continue our discussion on the peace table we focused on the rocks that we would be using in order to have our peaceful conversations. Yesterday we began the process of coming up with different name possibilities. The kids came up with several names and then decided that we should vote to pick the name! They narrowed the list of names down to four for us to vote on.
The names to be voted on are:
Sharing Stone
Peace Rock
Calm Talk Rock
Talking Rock
Once we finished writing the choices at the top of our page every child got a chance to vote on their favorite. The kids did a great job taking each possibility into account and then writing their name!
Once everyone finished making their choices we brought the graph to the group. The children counted each column, wrote the numbers of each vote at the bottom of each column, and discussed which one had the least and the most votes.
After all of the votes were cast and counted we have decided that the name of the rocks for the peace table will be:
TALKING ROCKS!
The children have done an amazing job working on this project over the last two days! We love to see their excitement and engagement in the peace table plan. We have watched as several children have asked each other to have a talk at the peace table when there is a disagreement. This has become a very positive addition to our class!!!
