Rainbow Foam

On Monday one of our little friends came up to me and said "I see a rainbow."  They led me over by the wall near the big window around our meeting space and showed me where they had seen the rainbow.  This, of course, gave me an idea.  I shared this idea with Ms. Beth and we came up with a new rainbow invitation. We told the children about this new invitation as being one of their choices for the day.  This was such a big hit that we offered this invitaion again today.  They were so excited and couldn't wait to begin making a rainbow using water, dish soap and a hand mixer. Before we got started with our invitation the children began having a conversation about making the foam.  Here is part of their conversation about the making of rainbow foam:
"What is rainbow foam?"
"It's like when you put colors into the foam."
"And, it's like a rainbow in the bowl."
"What makes the foam?" asked the friend.
"The soap and then you mix it and then it's rainbow foam."
Take a look below at all their beautiful work and read the comments they shared with one another as they took turns making this beautiful rainbow foam.
"It looks like candy cane and bubble gum."

"It looks like blue bubble gum!  I Love it!"

"How do you make it foamy?"
CM - "This is going to be epic!"

SS - "It's like washing my hands in a colorful sea!"
CS - "Rainbow hand cups!"
MY - Yeah!  Rainbow hand cups!"
"I'm washing the table.  Got to get it right here! Wash, wash, wash!"

ZW - "It's peachy!"
EB - "That looks awesome Z!"

CS - "Awesome E!  You're doing a great!"

EK - "It was really rainbowy earlier, now it's slimey!"

What a fun and exciting invitation this has been!  The children loved exploring with the colorful foam!
