Yesterday the children asked if they could use the dress up clothes. Today we added dress up clothes to our light and shadow area as a provocation.
Immediately the children put the dress up's on and started dancing. There was no music or instruction but the children's passion for movement came forth right away!
After a little bit one friend asked for "pretty music" to be added to our shadow area.
Initially the children in the space pretended that they were big sisters and little sister. They explored with the idea of perspective. CK and EK stood closer to the light projector so their shadow would be bigger and CS stood closer to the sheet. They said, "we are bigger so we are the big sisters and you are the little sister because your are small".
EB noticed that the sequins on her dress made "colorful shadows"!
Other friends started to join the space and the big sister, little sister game changed to a dance school! Some children pretended to be the teachers while others were the dance students. They went around the room and gathered chairs to make a space for an audience.
The audience was very respectful watching different children dance and would clap for them at the end of their performance!
