We were quite busy today as we continued out work on our books and making new circles for capers tomorrow. We have received a lot of positive feedback on our beautiful Kandinsky circle flowers that we put up in the hallway so we thought we would do it at capers again tomorrow. The kids said that we needed more circles though so we went to work!
We were lucky enough to get some new, soft sand for our sensory table. The kids are loving it and they had fun pretending to make different kinds of food. Some friends were making ice cream cones and cookies.
We love working on our loose parts structures. It is amazing how much the children have come back to working with these materials. We only had the jenga blocks on the table and the kids asked to add more materials to the table. They chose to continue working with the jewels and red caps.
Our book making is amazing. Today we talked more about the different parts of a book. We worked on creating title pages and writing their names because they are the author of their stories! We also talked about books have words and pictures. They like to draw lots of pictures and then tell a story, which is awesome in itself, but we wondered if they wanted to add the words that they were using to tell the story to their actual pages. Most of the kids were really excited to put words on their pages. All the children are at different stages and levels of writing.
The kids created a connecting vet in the collaboratory. One for dogs and one for cats!
