The children are commenting on all the changes that are happening with our weather and the season. We talked a little bit about it being spring this morning and then decided to take a walk throughout our neighborhood to see what we noticed? What was different? What was the same? How do we know it's spring?
While on our walk we noticed several birds and ZM asked, "How do birds fly?"
LM answered, "Their wings make them fly."
ML said, " Their feathers make them glide."
BM said, "They flap their wings."
ML replied, "The air makes them fly."
ML replied, "The air makes them fly."
All great answers to a wonderful question!
Here's what the kids noticed:
As soon as we walked to the front of school we saw our first sign of spring. Several children yelled, "a bunny!" ZM said, "That's spring!"
LM: The new leaves are signs of spring.
PH: The flowers are spring!
MM: That's a dogwood tree! They have flowers too!
"Worms!!!"
CS: The flowers smell so pretty!
"It rains in the spring and now we have puddles!"
LM: These start small like this and then they open up to a flower like this.
As we were walking we came upon the forest and the two big tree trunks that were left from the fallen tree! We couldn't pass up an opportunity to do some climbing!
CK: It's a flower wonderland!
The kids tried to push the log so that they could move it to our school. We realized that was a little bit of a harder task than we thought it would be. We might have to do some problem solving on this one!
BM: I can fly!
Working in mud!
This week we will be celebrating The Week of the Young Child. Today was Music Monday so Ms. Katie surprised each classroom with a little guitar music and a sing-a-long. Each child got to strum the guitar as well! It was a lot of fun!!! Check in tomorrow to see what we do next!
