We started our day by taking a neighborhood walk to see the train track. We hoped to see some trains in order to do some research for ideas of things to add to the train in our classroom. We didn't get to see any large freight trains today. However, we were excited to sees a special work truck driving down the train track. We also saw an Amtrak passenger train!
There goes the truck!
Waiting with friends for the trains to come!
Here comes a train!
When we got back to school, we worked in the classroom. We began our exploration of "potion making" by posing the question, "What happens when we mix water, liquid watercolor, and cornstarch?"
Our Willow scientists were excited to see their water change colors. They observed how the mixture changed as they added more cornstarch. They noticed:
"The potion got thicker."
"The cornstarch stuck to the bottom."
"The color got lighter."
"It got gooey and slimy."
