A New Box...

A new box appeared in our room today! It was very exciting! The big question was what should we do with this box?! We decided to break up into small groups with one of the groups being in charge of what to do with this box. After having a large group discussion about what the box should become our small group narrowed down the choices. They really liked the idea of the box becoming a train, a racecar or a rocketship. We took a vote and the winner is a train! Once we decided that it was going to be a train we had to get to work on plans for the train.

 We got some paper and pens. We used some train books for reference and started drawing what we wanted our train to look like. The kids had many different ideas. We will have to work out the details tomorrow after we look at everyone's drawings.

 We tested out the box to get an idea of what modifications we will need! One friend wants to add windows and another friend wants to add a steering wheel. There's a lot of work to be done on our train!

We haven't forgotten about our color mixing. Last week the kids used markers to draw on coffee filters and then sprayed water on them so see the colors mix. We discovered today that when they dried you couldn't see the colors as well as we wanted to so we decided to try something new! The kids were able to use liquid water colors and droppers to make some beautiful color mixtures! We loved it (who doesn't love droppers)!
