As you know we have been talking a lot about space. Last week the kids worked on making planets to hang in SPACE! This week we went to work putting our planets up. This group decided to put the planets on the wall by the moon (Thanks Norris Family!). First we looked at our planet book and figured out where we wanted to put the different planets. Then we went to work...
Everything revolves around the sun so we put that in the middle of the wall.
To the outside observer you might think the planets are being added in a haphazard way but we put them up very specifically according to how far they are from the sun and that they don't all rotate in the same place at the same time!
Once the planets were up we realized that people outside of our class might not know which one is which. We brainstormed ideas on how we could help with this problem. Our favorite plan was to write the names of each planet and add it to our space wall. These boys worked very hard on every planets name as well as all the dwarf planets!
Admiring all of our hard work!
And of course we had to tell the rest of the class all about what we did. We are very proud of our work and it shows!!!
While one group was inside working on the planets another group was busy getting parade materials ready for the Friendship Party next week! We have large pieces of cardboard that were given to us to decorate. We started painting them today and we will see what we want to do with them tomorrow!!! We are really excited for the Friendship Party and hope to see all of you there!
